“Airbag light comes on intermittently. Dealership corrected problem in august 2015 and it came back on june 2016. Was told the work will not be covered by Dodge. I looked up a recall for 2012 Dodge Avenger air bags but was told this recall does not apply to my vehicle. Occurs when car is stationary and in motion on all terrains. Light will turn off occasionally and then turn back on.”

NHTSA complaint #10883587, filed 2016-07, 70,000 miles

“We hit a deer and the front of the car was demolished. Upon inspection the next morning, I noticed that an airbag sensor was shattered and just hanging by the wire harness. Airbags did not deploy, I was concerned about this and never got a straight answer from anyone. Now I get a recall notice saying faulty restraint system, I'm not too happy...”

NHTSA complaint #10586878, filed 2014-05, 35,284 miles

“The air bag light came on one night as I was parking the vehicle. I looked up the recalls on my vehicle, took my vehicle in to be repaired and the light is still on. I was advised that it is the airbag module and it is not covered under the warranty or the recall. Upon investigation, there are similar complaints with the same issue for this make/model.”

NHTSA complaint #10660534, filed 2014-11, 42,000 miles

“Last week the airbag warning light came on while the car was in park.we took our 2012 Dodge Avenger to the dealer for a recall on an airbag problem. The dealer flashed or updated the tiom. The airbag light remained on. They say we have a faulty internal orc( occupant restraint controller) module.this is a recalled part on the 2011 but apparently not the 2012 at this time.”

NHTSA complaint #10717892, filed 2015-05, 42,208 miles

“I was the passenger in our 2012 Dodge Avenger. Another car pulled across three lanes of traffic and we hit her with the whole front end of our car. The air bags did not deploy. All persons in car were wearing seat belts. But the passenger seat belt tensioner failed to tighten. I was thrown into the dashboard and floor. My injuries: both knees, neck and back.”
