“I have lost two starter engines in 90,000 miles, which appear to be component design flaws. The chronic stalling problem surfaced at 5,000 miles, and the chrysler technical center could not diagnose the problem. Stalling has occurred while driving the vehicle at <25 MPH (during left or right hand turns), which I believe is a safety hazard. Several times, a dealer cleaned the throttle body housing, but the problem would reoccur frequently. …”
NHTSA complaint #705887, filed 1999-04“While starting vehicle ignition was locked in place. Consumer started the vehicle in park, and without any warning vehicle accelerated. As a result, it collided with another vehicle. It was totaled.”
NHTSA complaint #10094015, filed 2004-09“While riving on the interstate 55mph the transmission slipped out of gear, and the engine was just racing. Pulled off the road to reset the vehicle. The car was in overdrive, slipped out of overdrive to second gear. Pulled over again to restart. Was going up the hill, heard a clunking noise and could feel it. Then it dropped into a lower gear. Was told by a local transmission shop that a computer sensor which was attached to the transmission went out. As a result, transmission replaced.”
NHTSA complaint #851350, filed 1999-10“Consumr states that while having the vehicle in reverse the car surged overriding the brakes, causing the consumer to hit two cars that were behind him.”
