“Front r/l seat belt/shoulder belt do not retract, getting caught in the bottom of the door-we have to lay the seat belt in the seat-we have tried to retract manually but it still does not work-has there been a recall on either our truck or our van for these seat belts?”

NHTSA complaint #710779, filed 1999-09

“The metal fatigue of this part is suspect since we have had no accidents or collisions. Failure of this part prevents the seatbelt from working properly and could actually cause a fatal accident if this failure had occurred during highway driving. We have been trying to get this part repaired since february of 2001. We were told that this part number had changed 17 times and was on back order. Finally, after having to return to the dealer to re-repair the airconditioner, we called the chryserler manufacturer to see how we could solve the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #746602, filed 2001-06

“Seatbelt gets stuck in door path; when entering vehicle seatbelt is loose, and won't protect occupant in a crash. Also, problm with door latch striker which the occupant must slam door in order to shut. Ak because the belt retractor spring was weak, the driver seat belt has about a foot of slack.”

NHTSA complaint #878430, filed 2001-01

“Consumer was involved in a front end collision traveling about 15-20 MPH in which neither driver's or passenger's side air bags deployed. The passenger sustained injuries to breast and chest due to the seat belt not providing protection, and c ausing the passenger to jump forward. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer. Please provide any further details.”

NHTSA complaint #823813, filed 1998-06

“While trying to adjust power seat, lightly bumped release button for safety belt, and belt was released. Consumer stated, prime time broadcasted statistics on test results on Dodge and/or chrysler products.”
