The car was not smoked at the time of purchase and had to be done so about 1 month later. They said they had a hard time getting it to pass and then it passed but when I got it back I smogged it and it failed. Elite motos said they would work with me on resolving things but they never did. …”

NHTSA complaint #10075095, filed 2004-06“The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Caravan equipped with cornell cornell 1000 tires, size 205/75/r14. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the rear driver side tire experienced tread separation. The tire was replaced with the spare tire. The manufacturer of the tire was contacted and they advised that they would need to inspect the vehicle and the tire. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. Updated 02/03/12 updated 02/08/12”

The contact stated that another driver informed him that the front passenger tire was flat. The contact examined the tire and noticed that the inner sidewall was punctured. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and new tires were ordered. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred on two separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The tire failure mileage was 16,813. The vehicle failure mileage was 109,473. The VIN was unavailable.”
