“Hear a tapping in the engine so I took it to the dealership and they told me that the lifters need to be replaced and that my warranty expired 2 months ago. They also said that if I keep driving it the cam shaft will break and motor will seize and they also told me they are having a lot of these 5.7 liter engines with the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11150257, filed 2018-11, 57,000 miles

“When in park for a few minutes, the interior lights will dim, then the engine sounds a little rough for a couple of seconds. Within a few of minutes of that happening, the engine will turn off by itself. It's happened several times. I changed the air filter and used fuel injection cleaner. However, it did it again about a week or two later. I'm wondering if the alternator is going bad. The last time it happened was 3/5/2020”

“Mopar safety recall for alternator diode is not being checked or repaired by my local dealership. Fuel leak: I have noticeable amount of fuel leaking from beneath my car. The fuel leak is visible while the vehicle is stationary and you can smell gas while driving.”

“My 'oil change recommended' light comes on at start up and goes off. After I received the oil change this morning the light never went off, I saw the mechanic at the dealership for this problem he will fix it first thing in the morning. He did inform me he just repaired the same problem for two challengers this week. I've only had my vehicle 7 1/2 months.”

NHTSA complaint #10627160, filed 2014-08, 14,860 miles

“My 2014 Dodge Challenger dies when I'm driving it. The most recent was when I was driving downhill on a winding mountain road. It died, and there was no place to get off the road. When it dies, the lights, power steering and power brakes all quit. Very dangerous!!! The dealer could find nothing wrong. There are many complaints about this on the internet, and Dodge is doing nothing to fix this. Like me, others have taken their cars to dealers, and they find nothing wrong. Something is very wrong! …”
