NHTSA complaint #8022406, filed 2002-11, 30,000 miles“In october the driver and rear catalytic converters became clogged in turn heating up the transaxle and causing unrepairable defects. In december, I began smelling gas fumes and checked under the hood, I noticed that there was a leak from the top of the fuel injector rail in the passenger rear of the engine. Water pump was replaced in may 2002 and again in december 2002. In december a pulley and piston were also replaced”
NHTSA complaint #10068962, filed 2004-01“Leaks fuel directly over engine, extremely dangereous! Recall this also! This car also is our second Intrepid to have catastrophic transmission failure to be covered under warrenty. Also the second Intrepid we owned that dealers refuse to fix air conditioner leak, they only spray an anti fungicide on the evaporator coil.”
NHTSA complaint #734952, filed 2000-10“On hot days (90 degrees +), the entire interior lighting package comes on unexpectedly. This is very annoying during the day, and a serious safety hazard after dark. I asked sunshine Dodge (dealer) to investigate and repair the problem. They claim they were unable to replicate the conditions. It is now a matter of record that this car has this specific manufacturing defect. If I get into an accident as a result, chrysler corp. Pays.”
NHTSA complaint #703598, filed 1999-02“My 18 year old daughter was killed in an automobile accident involving a Dodge Intrepid. We are investigating to see if there was a steering failure. She would have lived had her seat belt not failed. Her seat was reclined and as a result she slid under the seat belt causing her injuries. Why is there no warning that this failure can occur? Kids do not read the owner?s manual! We feel that the case maker is responsible for her death but no one wants to help because of the cost. What can be done to help us? …”
