Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I purchased a car on 4-30-03 and was hit from behind by a hit & skip driver on 5-1-03. Police considers car a total loss. Car dealerships papers says that I have 10 days to show proof of insurance to them. The car dealership also says that they do/did not cover car for 10 day, and I still am financially responsible for the car. I was not given citation concerning the accident. The hit & skip driver pushed my car into another car. Is the dealership legally responsible to cover the car during this 10 day period? …”

NHTSA complaint #10016913, filed 2003-05

“The transmission failed ,it was repaired with me paying some of the repairs (which sucked) when I picked it up, I drove it 3 blocks and it was still doung the same thing so they fixed it agian or at least should have been right. Now 10,000 miles later it failed agian. They say 1 year or 12,000 mile which comes first & it's been 1 year 6 mo. But 10,000 it still shouldn't fail this was the first and will be my last crysler/Dodge I'll ever own”
