“Bought car in 2001, with 69,000 miles. 2 days after purchase, gauges stopped working, car ran fine, no noise, etc. Intermittent problem. Dealer could not duplicate. Happened while driving past dealer, stopped and they checked for codes, none found. Happened again, dealer had code for airbag module this time, replaced part. Problem is still intermittent. 2003, driving at 75 MPH on highway, car stalled, no restart. Towed to dealer, they replaced timing belt and water pump. Also had brake rotors and pads replaced at 72,000. They were done at 55,000 also. Replaced tie rod ends 2004 at 97,000. …”

NHTSA complaint #10144387, filed 2005-12, 70,000 miles

“I was in parking garage at jfk airport. When I started car and put it into gear, the car shot forward and crashed into concrete barrier and pillar. The airbags never deployed and the braking did not slow it down. The car was totalled and the travelers insurance has offered $2275 less the $500 deductible.”

NHTSA complaint #10069771, filed 2004-01

“Car has a rough downshift at a stop light. When the light turns green a slight touch on the gas pedal causes first a 2-3 second race of the engine then a sudden 10 foot lurch. I must stay a car length behind the car in front of me and keep my foot on the brake to avoid a crash . Dodge says I need a new transmission”

NHTSA complaint #712342, filed 1999-09

“I bought this car thinking that the Dodge Intrepid was a great car and we have not had nothing but a nightmare with this car. I can not believe that a new car could have that many problems. We have a Dodge truck that has over 200 thousand miles and never had this trouble. I have only once received a recall notice and I got that one after I called chrsler about it. No safety defect listed in the summary.”

NHTSA complaint #722616, filed 2000-05

“Vehicle has been experiencing following problems: ABS sensor light would come on and go out intermittently/cruise control would not work or engage properly/ check engine light would come on intermittently/brakes would lock up intermittently when applied/ faulty rotors causing excessive wear of brake pads, and vehicle would jerk into gear when applying accelerator pedal. Dealer notiied. Feel free to provide any other details.”
