“The vehicle cruise control would active while the vehicle was going down hill, then the vehicle would stall. When the cruise control came on it made the vehicle jerk.”

NHTSA complaint #10101499, filed 2004-12, 199,000 miles

“The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the cruise control light illuminated, followed by unwarranted acceleration. The brake pedal was tapped, and the engine stalled. The stalling was accompanied by all the dashboard warning lights illuminating. The vehicle was towed to a private repair shop, where there were no immediate repairs made.”

NHTSA complaint #10163609, filed 2006-07, 101,000 miles

“Cruise control light goes on in dash and car just suddenly stalls. This usually happens at all speeds and lately has stalled on highway at speeds in excess of 60 MPH. This happens for no known reason. I've had this problem checked by a mechanic and he cannot find any reading on the computer that would indicate any problems. This car was manufactured after a similar recall on this car back in 1993 for a transmission harness failure. I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that is encountering the same problems with this particular model vehicle. …”

NHTSA complaint #748934, filed 2001-07

“In january, my 6-year-old Intrepid (with only 26,000 miles) began lurching when I braked. The dealer initially thought it was the brakes, but then said it was worn seals and gaskets in the transmission. I was told the work would cost $1400. When I complained, the work was done for $700 because of the low mileage. I then received the transmission recall notice, but was told that this was for different work. When I had the car in today and the tires were rotated, I was told that there was a safety problem with the steering - that parts were cracked and worn and had to be replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #723700, filed 2000-06

“While driving a loud knocking noise was heard coming from the front. Vehicle accelerated and hit a brick wall. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained head and back injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer.”
