“Vehicle stalled shortly after refueling when beginning to accelerate after having been stopped at intersection. This problem continued to occur regularly after refueling. It occurred both when the vehicle is stopped and also while in motion. Restarting the vehicle was sometimes difficult. Once restarted the vehicle frequently surged while driving for several minutes of operation until returning to normal. This problem and its associated symptoms should be considered as a safety risk. As of april 2013, I no longer own this vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10557546, filed 2013-12, 110,000 miles“I was driving when the vehicle failed to accelerate over 55 MPH (sometimes it would not go over 35 MPH). The failure resolved temporarily when the vehicle was restarted. When this does occur the electronic throttle position and traction control light both come on and the car revs up loudly until it is shut off. It is dangerous when you are going 65-70 MPH on the highway and the car drops down to 35 MPH. Now that the weather is colder it happens more often including as soon as you start the car. There also is a lot of shaking while on the highway or while braking. …”
NHTSA complaint #10490910, filed 2013-01, 70,000 miles“After filling the gas tank, the car stalled at the next 3 intersections and ran rough once on moderate acceleration. No engine codes or warning lights appeared. Engine was able to be restarted nut only when depressing the accelerator pedal slightly. Would not re-start otherwise. Problem resolved itself after about 15 minutes of operation. Since then, issue has re-surfaced approximately 6 times with similar symptoms; occasionally with engine stalling while the car is slowing down but still moving. All time are associated with the first few minutes of operation after filling the gas tank.”
NHTSA complaint #10552029, filed 2013-11, 92,000 miles“- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge. The esp, electronic stabilization package failed when driving at 5 MPH. Whenthe tire slipped a little when accelerating, the throttle failed and the vehicle did not move forward, but the engine continued to run. For approximately 3 to 5 seconds the throttle would not release gas and the vehicle would not move forward. The mechanic and the star engineer stated that the vehicle was operating normally. The failure has occurred approximately 50 times, and occurred every time the vehiclewas driven. The current and failure mileage were both 15,000. Updated 03/19/07.”
NHTSA complaint #10183476, filed 2007-02, 15,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, a unknown warning indicator illuminated as the transmission began to jerk continuously. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normally for fifteen minutes then the failure recurred. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on three separate occasions. The throttle body was replaced twice and engine coil once. …”
