“I am the owner of a 1999 Dodge RAM 1500. I know there are many other complaints about this same problem. The dash board on my turck was in great shape when I purchased the truck. Now within the last couple months the dash board has began to develop large cracks in it, around the right side airbag. The problem have gotten progressivly worse until today, while shutting my hood, a very large chunk and several smaller chunks fell into the firewall area with a couple smaller pieces falling down ontop of the airbag. …”

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they were not aware of the recall and asked her to make an appointment. NHTSA complaint #10043205, filed 2003-10, 56,000 miles

“My 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 sport quad cabs ABS and brake lights are on. My ABS no longer works. Occasionally while drive the lights will go out but come right back on. The truck is also equipped with steering wheel controls for the radio. While using the volume buttons sometimes it will change radio station or will turn up when you want it to go down. I saw the ram van of the same year has a recall for the clock spring. It states that the symptoms are the ABS and brake lights stay on. Does this recall apply to the ram trucks also?”

NHTSA complaint #10131570, filed 2005-08

“The contact stated while driving 55 MPH on normal road conditions without any warning signals, the A/C was not working properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who determined the system should be recharged; tracer dye was added to detect any leaks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, after a new failure and the tracer dye indicated the leaking was from the evaporator coil, which was located inside the cabin. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed there was no recall for the A/C system. …”
