Example complaints

Fuel system: “I own a 1992 Dodge d-250 with a 5.9l cummins diesel engine. I was driving on I-95 one day under load when all of a sudden my truck tried to take off. The injection pump failed and gave it full throttle. It was scary as hell and I am lucky traffic wasn't bad and I was able to get it into neutral avoiding a crash. I later found out that there was a recall for that pump (recall #605). My truck has the faulty pump.... Is stamped #169.... Was never replaced.... Yet Dodge says there were never any recalls for my truck. None at all. Ever. …”

NHTSA complaint #10762184, filed 2015-09, 250,000 miles

Steering: “The contact owns a 1992 Dodge ram 250b. The contact stated the steering wheel had too much play in it. The steering box and drag link was replaced by the contact and the failure continued to occur. The contact stated that an alignment would not repair the vehicle. The dealer nor manufacturer were notified. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 75,568.”

NHTSA complaint #10432297, filed 2011-10, 75,568 miles

Electrical system: “While starting vehicle and switching air conditioner on, key ignition switch that holds key will get extremely hot, causing fuses to blowout. Consumer very seldom uses the air because of not being able to tolerate the cold. On unbearable days consumer does use the air conditioner. This is how consumer came acroos the problem. Consumer put in a new switch. It still gets hot. The new fuse links the connector wire to the switch which somewhat melted. The link stopped it from catching on fire.”
