“Got in the truck to leave and I turned the wheel and the brakes would engage! So I got on interstate and every time I would turn the steering wheel the brakes would engage got a little squirmy !”
NHTSA complaint #10692715, filed 2015-03, 108,000 miles“When my vehicle reached 50000 miles the ABS light, the airbag light and brake light came on for no apparent reason. Dodge has two recalls related to this issue. But as expected my vehicle was not on the recall list. So their solution was for me to purchase the 500.00 dollar part to remedy their poor design and workmanship. This is clearly a huge safety issue and should be addressed promptly. I personally think these failures are by design to sell parts.”
NHTSA complaint #10488130, filed 2012-12, 50,000 miles“Brake pedal has developed 3/4 lateral movement. Presents uncertainty during emergency braking, have had a couple of close calls where due to the lateral movement of the brake pedal braking was delayed. Local dealer briefly examined pedal and verified this lateral movement is abnormal and a problem exists with the mechanism in the adjustable brake pedal. Csr states part is on national back order and will not be available until some time in september.”
NHTSA complaint #10280337, filed 2009-08, 55,700 miles“Brake system stays engaged after brake pedal has been released. Brake pedal does not return to normal position must use left foot to return pedal to normal. Only happens after extensive use (rush hour). Caused my trailer to collide with truck after brakes did not disengage.”
NHTSA complaint #10184834, filed 2007-03, 31,250 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Dodge RAM 3500. While the vehicle was at a complete stop, the contact discovered that the brake pedal moved from side to side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the caliber fractured and the brake pedal assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 244,000.”
