“While driving on interstate 75 (with the cruise control set)the driver side seat back broke completly off of the seat bottom causing me to fall backward into the rear of the vehicle and momentarily lose control of the vehicle. I was able to regain control of the vehicle without causing an accident but a less experenced driver might have been in trouble. Dodge has so far refused to repair the seat and I have been told that this problem is normal wear and tear for which I am responsible to repair at my own cost. …”
NHTSA complaint #740353, filed 2001-02“Front passenger seat failed to remain locked in position with a passenger sitting in it. When brakes were applied passenger's seat would go forward, causing passenger to hit dashboard and into windshield. Contacted manufacturer, and was informed too many miles on vehicle to do anything.”
NHTSA complaint #896614, filed 2001-09“Ongoing problem with driver shoulder belt continuing to tighten upon driver while driving. Driver would have to unlatch belt buckle to get it to release itself. But, problem kept reoccurring. Also, driver's seat moves whenever brakes are applied in a sudden / emergency situation or when jerking the seat back and forth. Dealer refused to repair because vehicle was out of its warranty, and not covered under a manufacturer's recall.”
NHTSA complaint #874776, filed 2000-11“The vehicle was involved in a collision. The passenger side safety belt had come unbuckled when the collision occurred. The consumer was traveling down the road at approxiamately 30 MPH with his/her daughter buckled in her child restraint seat on the passenger side. A young man was backing out of a driveway claiming he didn't see the vehicle and impacted the passenger side. Upon impact, the passenger belt had unbuckled, putting the daughter and her seat to the floorboard.”
NHTSA complaint #8013902, filed 2002-07“Vehicle was rearended. Upon impact driver's seatback collapsed into rear seat, resulting in minor injury. Manufacturer has been notified, and will look into the matter.”
