“The consumer lost control of vehicle while driving on an icy road between 30 - 35 MPH. When this occurred, the vehicle hit a pole head on. Upon impact, none of the frontal air bags deployed, and the passenger side seat belt unbuckled. The passenger sustained serious head injuries when his head had come in contact with the windshield. Odi followed up with consumer and learned that the passenger side seat belt buckle did not release as earlier stated in the crash. The complaint was on the performace of the retractor. …”
NHTSA complaint #10057449, filed 2004-04, 15,000 miles“Consumer stated that both the driver and passenger safety belts did not retract. Once it was pulled from the housing it hung loose because there was no tension in the belts. The belts were previously replaced, and only worked properly for 2 weeks, then the problem recurred. The seat belt twisted at the top of the rear post.”
