“No prior issue -just started to rev up while driving then conked out-in the middle of the road have had it diagnosed and the transmission is shot- no issue with the transmission fluid-no smell nothing I basically only drive the care up and down the street I live -not a beltway driver-never drive in snow since I am second owner - bought when 1 year old- have had 5 years Ford refuses to offer warranty as it is 6 years also have had repeated issues with a sticking gas pedal- non accelerating -just sticking and having to force it to release by constant pressing on it.”
NHTSA complaint #10454736, filed 2012-04, 60,500 miles“While traveling on i80 (about 30 miles to sugar bowl ski resort), the gas engine suddenly shutdown without any warning at about 60 MPH. There was a red triangle light and stop safely now message was displayed. Luckily, I was on the right most lane and I could pull to the side of the road to avoid incoming traffic from behind. This was extremely dangerous as this may cause serious accidents. The car was diagnosed at a Ford dealership and the motor electronics cooling system was failing. Ford is fully aware of this part failing frequently and Ford has a service bulletin for it: TSB 08-24-5.”
