“I purchased a 2001 Ford explorer sport tract I didn't get to test drive it because there were other vehical surrounding it. When I finally got to drive my truck home I noticed the transmission had a severe issue. When I turned a corner my tires rubbed badly on some other part to the trucks parts and the driver seat has a medal rod that jabs me in the back that's coming thru the fabric now my battery has leaked acid every where in the battery compartment and surrounding areas.”
NHTSA complaint #10877013, filed 2016-06, 147,260 miles“Feb 7th 2006 I was in a head on collision with another vehicle that deployed both airbags. My Explorer Sport Trac did not deploy any airbags. I had to have a fusion of c5 & c6 in my neck due to the crash.”
NHTSA complaint #10188492, filed 2007-04, 124,000 miles“Driver's side seat track had a failure that caused it to squeak and not to work efficiently. Dealership replaced this part 5 times, but problem still occurs.”
NHTSA complaint #10038268, filed 2003-09, 11,000 miles“My 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac front seat broke, doesn't move forward, it makes a pop noise...my latches on my locks bed are broken; the locks fell out of the bed cover; the side latch fell off. I only have 29000 miles, and I am disappointed with the consistency of small problems that occur....I have had other vehicles , who had no problems until around 100,000 miles -- I have to sit on a pillow; can't store anything in the likeable bed -- so have no trunk -- not real happy for the money I spent.”
NHTSA complaint #10114506, filed 2005-03“The driver's seat was unable to recline or able to move forward making the ability to drive for a taller person difficult. The consumer also heard a clicking noise when the heater was on. Manufacturer was contacted by owner.”
