“The iac valve keeps going bad in my 2000 Ford Mustang Gt. I have had to have it replaced by my local shop for $300 each (including the tow to the shop since the car was inoperable).”
NHTSA complaint #10025347, filed 2003-07, 32,000 miles“The iac valve in my 2000 gt mustang has gone bad. Causing problems with idle and cold startup. This seems to be a problem all across the board with many mustang owners. This problem needs to be put into the light and a recall shoudl be made.”
NHTSA complaint #10025344, filed 2003-07, 20,000 miles“Vehicle failed to start on several occasions; vehicle could only be operated with foot on the gas pedal at all times to allow fuel to flow; vehicle almost uncontrollable coming to a stop at red light when engine stalled; vehicle would not continue idling on a cold start. Per dealer, the iac valve needs replacing...expected on Ford automobiles(mustangs and explorers, specifically).”
NHTSA complaint #10028417, filed 2003-07“Engine almost stalls when coming to a stop making the steering hard. This problem is well known, and should be a recall!! Should look into idle air control valve (iac) as the possible cause.”
NHTSA complaint #10029105, filed 2003-07“The contact owns a 2000 Ford Mustang Gt. While driving 25 MPH, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact turned off the vehicle to stop the failure. The vehicle had not been inspected at the time of the complaint. The VIN was not available when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were unknown.”
