NHTSA complaint #11602447, filed 2024-07“The contact owns a 2022 Forest River Rockwood. The contact stated that while the RV was parked, there was a short circuit causing the RV to catch fire from the inside. The fire marshals extinguished the fire. There was a police report filed. There were no injuries. The RV was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical system failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.”

The contact stated that upon purchase of the trailer; several, exposed electrical wires were left hanging from underneath the trailer. The contact also stated that the electrical winch that raised the canopy would remain active. The contact expressed concern that if the winch were to be hit from the outside the trailer, severe damage could be caused to the trailer. The manufacturer had been notified about the failure but had offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 0.”
