“On june 1, 1999 I noticed the drivers side door bolts on the top hinge beginning to rust through the body of the car. In the next couple of weeks, through normal use of the door, the top hinge completely separated from the body of the car. This resulted in the door being supported solely by the lower hinge, making it near impossible to use. I contacted 2 different chevrolet dealers as well as chevrolet's 800 number for special concerns. All attempts to report the problem ended with negative results. It is my belief that this is a design defect and should be investigated. …”

NHTSA complaint #708159, filed 1999-07

“The pillar attached to the door hinge is disintegrating and the door has come apart from the sheet metal on the upper portion of the driver's side around the hinge area, the pillar had a hole through it causing the door to come apart from the sheet metal supporting the door hinge on the upper portion of the drivers seat. Nlm”

NHTSA complaint #556232, filed 2000-10

“Door hinge bolts rusted straight through the frame of the car. Hinge still intact, but the door lowers 6 inches when it's opened. Chevrolet reluctant to repair problem.”

NHTSA complaint #707304, filed 1999-06

“Black vinyl convertible top which remains in decent shape with the exception of the windows, clarity has faded to a point cant see through them, resulting in what is a safety hazard.”

NHTSA complaint #531211, filed 1998-02

“While driving driver's door fell off due to the door hinges being rusted. Also, the seat belt is attached to the door in which the occupant almost fell out.”

NHTSA complaint #825788, filed 1998-07
