Example complaints

Body and structure: “On june 1, 1999 I noticed the drivers side door bolts on the top hinge beginning to rust through the body of the car. In the next couple of weeks, through normal use of the door, the top hinge completely separated from the body of the car. This resulted in the door being supported solely by the lower hinge, making it near impossible to use. I contacted 2 different chevrolet dealers as well as chevrolet's 800 number for special concerns. All attempts to report the problem ended with negative results. It is my belief that this is a design defect and should be investigated. …”

NHTSA complaint #708159, filed 1999-07

Suspension: “Right rear rides low. Rear right axle housing welds appear to be stretched and leaking. Vehicle brought to dealer for recall inspection (recall id NHTSA: 94v073001). Recall inspection of axle housing refused due to recall cancellation by general motors.”

NHTSA complaint #10242946, filed 2008-09, 138,000 miles

Transmission and drivetrain: “Driving out of driveway when clutch cable broke; had pushed clutch pedal & felt a pop. Called dealer about clutch cable & informed nothing can be done due to warranty expired.”

NHTSA complaint #815382, filed 1997-08

Seat belts: “While driving 35-40 MPH, consumer hit another vehicle on the passenger side and shoulder belt did not restrain consumer, damage to vehicle unknown at this time. Consumer hit back of his head on windshield, also suffered injuries to lower back/chest/wrist and neck. .”
