Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“3 of the 5 lugs: bolts failed on the right rear tire. They were completely sheared off. We only noticed because the hub cap wouldn't stay on squarely, so we removed it and found the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #757502, filed 2002-01

“Wheel steel rims are bent laterally, quoted by Gmc dealers after inspecting. Front wobbles extremely along with poor balance. Consumer all states that he was told by manufacturer that this is caused from curbing, no signs of curbing on outer parts of rims, rims only bent in center, the most vehicle has been over are speed bumps, dips and gravel driveways, the wobbling is felt more at higher speeds.”

NHTSA complaint #981052, filed 1996-03
