“Noticed a unusual odor coming from the engine area in late december, 2008. We took our Jimmy in for routine service (1/21/2009) it was recommended that the engine oil cooler lines were leaking and need to be replaced. We found out that the oil was dripping on the exhaust system causing the unusual odor. This could result in a fire and loss of vehicle or injury to the occupants if it was not noted by the dealer technician.”
NHTSA complaint #10255994, filed 2009-01, 62,948 miles“My 2000 Jimmy has leaks assoxiated with the oil lines. I have found out that this is and has been a known problem for many years. Where is the recall? I just spent over $400 to repair...GM should pick up this cost.”
NHTSA complaint #10057096, filed 2004-02, 44,500 miles“My truck lost power and stopped running while driving on the freeway on the afternoon of 9-19-03. It was eventually towed to the dealer. Upon inspection I was told that nothing was wrong and that it ran fine. I was not convinced. On 9-22-03 it was determined that the truck needed a new catalitic converter and was driven in. I picked it up three days later. The next day the service light came on. I called the dealer and was told to bring it in. It was determined that the truck's computer needed to be updated. …”
NHTSA complaint #10070973, filed 2004-01, 42,910 miles“At 50,000 miles, both front wheel bearings had to be replaced, as the vehicle was pulling off the road as it was being driven. I was told that they wore because of no grease. Now at 61,000 miles, the intake manifold gasket is leaking, and the oil lines are also leaking. The dealership estimated repair costs at well over $1100 dollars. This is a 2000 Gmc Jimmy, and only has 61,000 miles.”
NHTSA complaint #10107527, filed 2005-01, 61,642 miles“While driving at 45 MPH, the check engine light came on. The dealer examined the vehicle and claimed that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The consumer was driving at the same speed and all of the lights illuminated on the dash. The consumer pulled onto the shoulder and the vehicle was smoldering under the hood.”
