Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I was driving at night and my headlights (which are automatic type using a light sensor) went out for a few seconds without me doing anything. After a few seconds they came back on. They did it a 2nd time for a shorter time period on the same drive and have flashed off for a few seconds temporarily on a few nights since then. The interior dash/switch lighting inside the car does not go out, just the headlamps.”

NHTSA complaint #10649064, filed 2014-10, 219,500 miles

“Pulled over to side of highway (raining) and engaged the hazard signal briefly and disengaged and directional signal and brake lights failed to operate. Mechanic changed all bulbs that were burn out. Hazard lights and braking lights are still not operational.”

NHTSA complaint #10093633, filed 2004-10, 107,000 miles

“Dt: the contact stated there was GM recall 01073 on the exterior hazard lamp switch and the breaking light sensor. This recall was fixed in 2001. The contact heard a clicking sound under the dashboard, and the dealer said that it was the hazard lamp switch that was bad again, and that it could cause a fire. He noticed this on 8-6-05. Gmc wanted to charge the contact for repairs, even though it was fixed before. Also, he talked to Gmc and they will not fix it again for free.”

NHTSA complaint #10135384, filed 2005-10, 44,000 miles

“Shop > vehicle resources > vehicle ownership > vehicle recall search recall information is provided as is from the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA). Recall notices for 2000, Gmc Jimmy year: 2000 vehicle make: Gmc vehicle model: Jimmy NHTSA campaign number : 01v364000 summary: vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. The multi-function switch could develop an open circuit condition that results in the stop lamps and the rear hazard lamps becoming inoperative. The center high mounted stop lamp and turn signal functions are not affected. …”

NHTSA complaint #10139282, filed 2005-10, 81,000 miles

“The stop lamps (switches/relays) failed 3 times so far. This poses a dangerous situation for families since this component fails regularly leaving the occupants without brake lights. The dealership(s) were aware of the problem but noted that Gmc does not consider this widespread. I tend to disagree since this has happened regularly for us. I believe there are many 2000 Jimmy owners on the road and unaware of non-working brake lights.”
