“I have a 95 Gmc Safari that was equiped with dexcool coolant. I have replaced all the freezeout plugs, that have been eaten away by the coolant. There are several law suits but none of them include Safari or astro vans. Are there any lawsuits that include vans.”
NHTSA complaint #10245691, filed 2008-10, 112,000 miles“Raw gas odor in exhaust, sometimes exhaust has foul odor, engine runs rough at times. Was taken to dealer in april 2003, could find nothing wrong in their diagnostics, symptoms have slowly gotten worse over time. Suspect latent defect in fuel injection system causing a fuel leak inside of engine (intake manifold). Since a dlealer can't find the problem with normal diagnostics, this is an obvious emissions control defect as well as a potential safety defect. This would affect all vehicles with this engine, this defect is not specific to this model.”
NHTSA complaint #10060423, filed 2004-03, 94,000 miles“My windshield wipers don't come on sometimes and sometimes they do. I know two other people withe the same van and same year with the same problem. The moter had a rod knock when I purchased it, but there was a thick liquid added to the oil so I never heard it unti I had an oil change. After the engine was rebuilt the first time, while driving it, I had another rod knock but this time it was alot louder and caused more damage to the motor. I still sometimes hear a knocking noise, but the dealership keeps telling my that it's something vibrating.”
NHTSA complaint #707009, filed 1999-05“While driving the vehicle lost all of the following functions: power steering, brakes, engine cooling/water pump, and all other functions operated by the serpentine belt. My initial inspection revealed that the serpentine belt had become dislodged from the pulley system. Further inspection revealed that the alternator bracket failed allowing the belt to become dislodged. …”
NHTSA complaint #753788, filed 2001-10“Consumer was on turnpike and at a stop with foot on brake when car suddenly accelerated while brake pedal was pushed down. This has been happening for about 4 years. Dealer was contacted ,and they will not fix it although they knew that itwas a EGR valve.”
