“For about the last year we have been having ABS light issues and have had brakes replaced, wheel bearings replaced, hubs replaced. Mechanic assured everything fine. Have had complete loss of brakes twice in last year. Latest failure was one week ago...brakes failed, went to floor but did not hit anything as was in parking lot. Mechanic found corrosion on the brake line and replaced section of the line involved.”
NHTSA complaint #10364336, filed 2010-11, 169,000 miles“Driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor while driving on the highway. The driver pulled over and noticed that the left front side wheel locked up and was unable to unlock it. Driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The mechanic determined that the left front side brake caliper sheared off and that the wheel needed to be replaced. Two bolts sheared off the wheel causing the caliper to come loose and get caught in the wheel opening tearing the brake line.”
