“Check engine light comes on and engines goes into reduced power mode. Doesn't have enough power to go over 40 MPH. While pulling a trailer the engine doesn't have enough power to climb hills or go over 25 MPH. I have taken to dealer twice and they say GM is aware of the problem but they don't have a fix for it. It's not safe having a vehicle that breaks down in -15 degree weather and having the dealer tell you that there is no fix for the problem and to just keep driving the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10252460, filed 2008-12, 46,000 miles“The contact owns a 2007 Gmc SIERRA 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle's coolant is constantly low. The warning light indicated a low coolant level. The dealer diagnosed the cause of failure as the o ring missing from the fly wheel housing coolant. The dealer repaired the vehicle, however, the low oil indicator light illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the cause of failure as an oil filter leak. The seals and oil filter were replaced. When the contact picked up the vehicle, he noticed an oil leak. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage is 4,000 and failure mileage was 650.”
