“I am the orginal owner of my Gmc Yukon Denali 2012 and it has been garaged most of its life. About 2 months ago my dash started to vibrate then I notice a large crack in the dash just above the speedometer. The fact I have taken such good care of this vehicle leads me to believe this is a defect in the design. The cars value is diminished dramatically due to this visible defect. …”

“I have a 2012 Gmc Yukon Denali. I've had several occasions where I'm driving and the truck turns off/or experiences a short for a few seconds. I have checked all electrical cables and have exchanged batteries twice (as they drained ). A few months back my dashboard started cracking as well, first it was a small crack near the passenger side airbag. Later another crack by the steering wheel, which had now formed a large v .”

NHTSA complaint #11024611, filed 2017-09, 60,000 miles

“My dashboard is cracked at the passenger airbag. I have not been involved in an accident. I got into my vehicle and noticed the crack. I am concerned about safety if my airbag deploys and plastic dash pieces turn into projectiles. My vehicle warranty does not cover the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10899621, filed 2016-08, 73,000 miles

“Recently purchased a 2012 Yukon Denali didn't notice the cracks in the dash when I originally purchased. It has a crack on the dash near the airbag, and also a crack above the instrument panel in front of the steering wheel. I would think in the event of a crash with a airbag deployment the dash would already be compromised causing injury to the driver or passenger with shards of sharp plastic. Especially by the passenger airbag. I have researched online and noticed hundreds if not thousands of complaints about the same issue in model years 07-14 in chevy and GM products. …”

NHTSA complaint #10968272, filed 2017-03, 52,000 miles

“I purchased my 2012 Gmc Yukon Denali awd new. Approximately 3 years ago the dashboard developed a crack at the top left corner of the front passenger airbag. The crack has slowly been getting worse and is now becoming elevated and I now have fears for proper operation of the front passenger airbag due to this. I researched and discovered that this has been an ongoing problem with 2007 - 2013 Gmc yukons, chevrolet tahoes, chevrolet suburbans, and cadillac escalades. I contacted general motors via email today (5/30/17) and am awaiting response and hopeful resolution from them. …”
