Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Speedometer malfunctions contacted the dealer and they tell me it is common in the model and year I have. Said it is an electrical malfunction and it was estimated at $600 to repair. The speedometer works sometimes and stops working other times and goes hay wire sometimes. Manufacturer is aware of the defect according to the dealer.”

NHTSA complaint #10182629, filed 2007-02, 93,000 miles

“I purchased a new 2004 Yukon Xl denali ,at times the rear heater will not work , the fan will blow but only cold air. At other times you can turn the entire AC/heat unit off in the front and it will continue to blow from the vents, I have taken it to the service department from the dealer I bought it from, they told me there was nothing they could do until GM issues a solution to the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10108396, filed 2005-02, 3,200 miles

“While driving, the driver's power side seat begins to move forward. The dealer states there was no solution at this time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on twelve occasions. The driver's seat memory switch was inoperative, there was noise at idle and was unable to be duplicated, the satellite radio would lose frequency, the seam on the drivers seat material was wearing and the horn was delayed.”

NHTSA complaint #10114948, filed 2005-03, 14,595 miles

“The entire audio system in my 2004 Gmc yukon has no audio. The lights are on so it appears that it should be working. You can turn the volume completely up and get no sound. The am/fm radio does not have sound nor does the xm radio or my on star. If you stop the car, put it in park, turn off the ignition, open the drivers door, close the door, put the key back in and restart the car, it will sometimes restart the radio (reboot the system). The dealership has been unable to determine the cause. This has occurred multiple times.”

NHTSA complaint #10241019, filed 2008-09

“The contact owns a 2004 Gmc Yukon Xl. The contact stated that the air conditioner in the rear no longer functioned. The contact also received an adjustment of service notice from the manufacturer and the air conditioner in the front was repaired, but not the rear. The dealer replaced the power connecter and the resister blower. The contact felt that the failure of the rear air conditioner was a manufacturer's defect. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 92,000.”
