Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have a 2000 Gmc Yukon (non-xl). I was turning around in a parking lot and heard a crunch in the front engine compartment of the vehicle. When I went to straighten out and continued onto the street, the power steering was gone. I had to strong arm it home. I did some research on recalls and found that the 2000 Gmc Yukon xl had in fact been recalled for the exact symptoms that my vehicle had (non xl). I called Gmc the next day and explained the situation. I asked them if the same recalled power steering parts are used for the standard and the xl Yukon. …”

The consumer was told that his vehicle was 1 of 198 that are being recalled. No recall was found.”
