“I am a consumer with some serious problems with firestone tires! I am the owner of a 27 foot gulfstream rv. It being brand new, my first problems were with only ~ 6k000 miles on it--1/2 way across the us. The first tire tread separated--with the tire still full of air. Then the treads wore out on he front at ~ 7000 miles. Caused problems and big $$ to fix the front end...and 2 more new tires --not firestones. Nother tire suddenly developed a huge bubble in the sidewall--had to replace out of my pocket-again! …”
NHTSA complaint #10116371, filed 2005-04, 20,000 miles“Driving 55 MPH on I-25, nothing out the ordenary, just heard a pop, and when I pulled over the tread had rapped around the axle. Appon removing the wheel, I then tried to remove the tread from the axle, when I got it off I noticed that the tread was in one peace like it had seperated from the cord for unknown reasons.I don't know what caused the failure all I know is that many people have told me that carlisle tires have a record of failure. I have to replace the tire and the wheel, no damage was done to my trailer or to my wife and I.”

The vehicle was not overloaded and tires were properly inflated (80 PSI). We had just purchased the motorhome, first trip, and were driving between 55 and 60 MPH. The highway was dry and the temperature was about 90 degrees f. We had driven about 175 miles when the failure occurred. The tires were made by kumho, size lt225/75 r-16 load range e. …”
