Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2009: “The rear brakes on a 2009 hd trike has very little stopping power, harley knows it has a problem because they started putting bigger brakes on the 2011 models. I thought that they would have to fix the 2009,and 2010 models.but there never was a recall on them.there is a safety problem when you can't stop. Plus now my rear brakes quit working all together.”

NHTSA complaint #11071954, filed 2018-02, 25 miles

2017: “Every now and then the engine will stall out during stop & go traffic or when you pull into a parking lot with the clutch pulled in & no throttle. This has happened three times in the last month. I hear by internet threads that harley is aware of this situation and has chosen not to make this public to owners. Do we wait till someone gets killed to address this critical issue?.”

NHTSA complaint #11065355, filed 2018-01, 4,500 miles

2012: “Failure of the compensator-I also hear from hd mechanics that so many of these have failed it should be a recall. I was lucky, mine failed when I had a trailer to tow it. However, the failure of the compensator did cost me $4500 to repair for a $299 part. Please check to see if hd is having that many fail.”
