“My Honda Civic began to shake while driving at any speed higher than 35mph, the rear tires are bald. The mechanic I took it to said the wheels could not hold the alignment and suggested adding a part to hold the tires in alignment and to allow for tightening of the alignment.”

NHTSA complaint #10476717, filed 2012-09, 138,000 miles

“On 2/26/10, I had 4 new tires installed in my 2005 Civic; at 56,000 miles. Even purchased the warranty. About two weeks later, I felt a very mild vibration between 48-52 MPH. I didn't make such a big deal of it then. The past 6 weeks or so, about 60,000 miles, the Civic's vibrating has gotten worse between 48-52mph. I took it for it's maintenance, had everything done, especially the break rotors and alignment. The vibrating has not stopped. I brought it back to the dealership. According to them, the car was checked, and felt the vibrating. Car was re-aligned, the said it was the rear struts. …”

NHTSA complaint #10351102, filed 2010-08, 59,500 miles

“I was driving to taco bell to get some late night food. Well I get through the light that leads into the parking lot...(I've had some squeaking coming from my front end early in the am and once its really warmed up b.t.w.). So, I get through and going about 15 MPH a squeak then a kind of pop and next thing I know im pulled into the curb, hop it, and take out a bush. I was so mad! My car has 4600 miles on it! So I back it off the curb and pull it over. There was bad curb damage on the wheel and my wheel is very. Looked like very positive camber. …”

NHTSA complaint #10141149, filed 2005-10, 4,700 miles

“2005 Honda Civic with 60,000 miles on the odometer. Replaced rear tires about 10,000 miles ago, and the new tires are cupped on the inside, causing extreme noise from the rear of the car and some vibration. The original tires wore very well. Rear tire wear is significant. New front tires are wearing evenly. This problem seems to be very common in Honda civics.”

NHTSA complaint #10344942, filed 2010-07, 55,000 miles

“2005 Honda Civic several failures. The consumer stated the master cylinder failed suddenly and the front suspension collapsed. He stated the ball bearing cage could not be lubricated. Without lubrication, the ball bearings can grind themselves into dust. The aluminum knuckles fractured because the wheels were not supported.”
