“My 1999 Honda Passport's ABS light remains illuminated after it's self diagnostic test. I have taken it to the dealer who indicated that diagnostic codes require the main ABS computer module to be replaced. When the light is lit, the ABS system is inoperative. This is a safety hazard. The light occaisionally does go off after self diagonostics, about 2% of the time. …”
NHTSA complaint #10000709, filed 2003-01, 45,000 miles“About a month after purchasing vehicle, brakes failed or shuddered a couple of times when braking at low speeds. Finally ABS light went on and according to the manual this means the ABS brake system is no longer working - have had no braking problems since. Dealer says it's a rear switch that's out, and wants over $200 to replace, but I haven't fixed it since research leads me to believe the ABS system is faulty anyway. Have a daughter I don't want injured in a crash due to faulty brakes.”
NHTSA complaint #10107695, filed 2005-01, 33,000 miles“Abs system has been a problem since we bought this truck. The last time it was in the repair shop at Honda dealer it was for the recall of 7/2003 regarding the changing of the ABS system after the work was done we had the ABS light coming on and the brakes engaging on dry payment. Now they tell us that the wire harness under the truck is broken and making the ABS system come on . Thjis repair will cost close to 300.00 dollars to fix. The service man at the dealership told us that it was broken because of the way it was designed . …”

Then, vehicle hit a cliff, and rolled onto the left side. Consumer received a safety campaign letter, indicating a problem with the anti lock brake system.
