“The brake/stop lamp switch has failed again. The switch was replaced in 2009 under the first recall issued for this problem. Another recall occurred in april of 2013, for select 2006 Hyundai accents. Mine was not covered in this second recall. The switch has failed again and I believe this should have been included in the second recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10652412, filed 2014-11, 86,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the tail lights on the vehicle stopped working. The dealer could not determine the cause of the failure. She is currently unable to drive the vehicle at night due to the failure. In addition, a crash could occur or the contact could be ticketed by the police. The VIN was unknown. The current mileage was 45,170 and failure mileage was 42,000.”
