“The issue involves the hybrid electric powertrain or electrical control system in my 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited Hybrid. The vehicle has shut off multiple times while driving, with complete loss of power and propulsion. This poses a serious safety risk, as it happens without warning in the middle of the road. Restarting the car requires shifting into Park and trying multiple times to turn it off, but the vacuole turns back on the first try. I have experienced this issue several times, including twice during a 300-mile highway trip. …”
NHTSA complaint #11661795, filed 2025-05“On my way home waiting for the green light the car would not respond to the accelerator.. the engine would rev up on the tachometer but would not move. Finally the engine responded and the car took off reaching 83mph in a matter of seconds. After release of the accelerator I was able to get the car under control. At the next traffic light even with my foot on the brake the vehicle lunged forward nearly striking the car in front. I put the car in neutral and was able to use neutral and low gear to get it back home...the car was towed to the dealership the next morning.”
NHTSA complaint #11535343, filed 2023-07“While driving in a parking lot. The car wouldn't accelerate. Kept pressing on the gas pedal but the car wouldn't move. After about 5 seconds the car shut down. I had to place the car on P then press the start button, pressed the brake pedal and then the start button again and the car turned back on”
NHTSA complaint #11653347, filed 2025-04“Car still jerks forward after their “repair” attempts. Car will also not accelerate on the highway and won’t go past 55 without engine codes and the car going limp”
