“I purchased the car brand new March 2023. I noticed the front driver headlight fogs and has condensation in cool weather. I mentioned to the Dealership and they said it was a known issue but no fix for it. The light was sealed properly. This has been on going since 2023. The condensation has gotten worse and is a safety visability issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11628351, filed 2024-12“The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the contact became aware that the driver's side headlamp was not functioning. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that condensation had caused damage to the LED headlamps. The contact was informed that the headlamp assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11649220, filed 2025-03, 16,000 miles“The passenger rear tail light started to show condensation and pooling water after a rain. The technician stated it was fine. The passenger rear tail light started to work intermittently and now only the break light works because it is a bulb light not an LED. Replacement requires an entirely new light system put in. Even though it was showing issues before 60,000 miles, they will not honor the warranty because it completely stopped working past the warranty mileage. When attempting to find a replacement, I discovered thousands of rear passenger tail lights with the same issue. …”
