“Noticed that the head lights shut off for a couple of seconds when making a turn onto a ramp on an interstate. Seemed to happen when the turn signal was operated and has repeated a dozen or so times since the first occurrence, but can go weeks to months between incidents. I think that the head light selections switch was set to on at the time as I have not noticed this to occur when set to auto.”

NHTSA complaint #10662966, filed 2014-12, 26,500 miles

“When using the turn indicator, the headlights will flash off. Sometimes it is just for a moment and other times for a second or two. This leaves me in complete darkness and opposing drivers getting upset that my lights are flashing on and off. This occurs whether I am in motion, stopped to make a turn, or at any time when the turn signal is used and the headlights are on. This also happens when just tapping the 3-blink lane change option for the turn signals.”

NHTSA complaint #10789730, filed 2015-11, 83,000 miles

“I was pulled over by a policeman who noticed that all of my rear brake lights were not working. There was no warning light on my dash to notify me of this problem. I took my car to the service department of a Hyundai dealership and they said a diode had failed. I was pulled over by a policeman about 2 years ago for the same issue (there was no indication on my dash of the non-working brake lights at that time either). So, this problem has happened twice in the four years that I've driven this car. …”

NHTSA complaint #10663559, filed 2014-12, 72,419 miles

“My 2011 Genesis sedan with 30,000 miles had brake lights fail 2 times. I would press the brakes and none of the brake lights would come on. On both occasions, the issue was due to a failed diode per the dealership. I noticed that there is a brake light recall from Hyundai-kia that I saw in the news today. However, the article seemed to suggest that it only covers the Genesis coupe. However, I can tell you that I had similar issues with the Genesis sedan as well with the diode failure mentioned above. …”

NHTSA complaint #10505471, filed 2013-04, 12,000 miles

“Headlights will go out when engaging the turn signal when on the on position only ( not the auto position) light will remain off for between 1 and 10 seconds. This can happen when moving or stopped. There is a dead spot in the switch and just touching it can cause the headlights to go out.”
