“I have had 4 incidents so far over the last month, all lasting under 5 seconds. In each case, the regenerative braking switches to a different level without any input from the user. This presents as what feels like a level 3 (strong) braking when none was on and no foot is near the brake, or if the regen braking was turned on (in one case to level 1), it shuts off momentarily. During these incidents, the behavior is also irregularly changing between for example hard breaking (level 3) for a second and then fluttering irregularly between hard and low levels. …”
NHTSA complaint #11360258, filed 2020-09, 5,300 miles“When ABS engages briefly on a wet surface, there is an incomplete transition from regenerative braking to friction brakes, resulting in a hard pedal that does not actually engage the brakes. This is very dangerous and I have experienced this loss of braking force multiple times when stopping in the rain and a tire is on a slippery manhole cover or crosswalk line. Braking force is reduced significantly for a second or two until the friction brakes are engaged. If the vehicle is rolling in Neutral, the friction brakes work as designed with no delay. …”
