“Took the car into the shop for an airbag light. They said that it was a bad oc mat sensor. I was quoted $1000+ for parts and labor. I asked why this wasn't covered under the recall because my car was in the range 06-07, they said my VIN did not indicate an active recall. I called corporate and they also said I was sol. This is something that needs to be fully recalled, far too many of them are failing and Hyundai refuses to do anything about them.”

NHTSA complaint #10935456, filed 2016-12, 92,000 miles

“Takata recall my car dashboard indicates the airbag is on countinously and the passenger seat belt light is flashing even there is no one on the seat. I went to Hyundai dealer and they check the problem and the error code is b1447 but, they tell me this error is not recall for my car and they are ready to fix it but with buying about $1500 for just the part which is ocs sensor in the passenger seat plus the labor work I need your help for this issue, it is related to my family safety, please.”

NHTSA complaint #11104458, filed 2018-06, 146,000 miles

“Vehicle was taken to Hyundai because the airbag light was illuminated, and the passenger seat belt reminder light would blink when no one was in the seat. After a diagnostic test, the dealership advised this was due to a faulty airbag sensor in the passenger seat, that was part of the actual seat. The replacement seat cushion was going to cost upwards of $1200, with the installed price of over $1500! After looking at the NHTSA complaints, I saw I am not the only one who has had this problem. A quick google search also showed a plethora of other complaints in regards to this issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11192041, filed 2019-03, 143,000 miles

“Drivers side front seat moves when accelerating and decelerating at lower speeds. Most noticeable when coming to a stop and starting out. Seat failure causes loss of control when depressing brake pedal and accelerator pedal. Hyundai dealer and Hyundai customer service state that is a engineering defect on 2007 and 2008 models, and that there is no remedy. Fault became really noticeable at around 5,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10217921, filed 2008-02, 5,000 miles

“- the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving at 10 MPH the driver's front seat rocked backwards, and when engaging the brakes the driver's seat rocked forward. The dealer repaired the seat. However , the failure occurred immediately after being repaired. The dealer stated that the failure was an engineering error. Hyundai was unable to assist the contact with repairing the vehicle and stated that the engineers were working on the seat failure. The current and failure mileage were both 7400 miles. Updated 03/30/07.”
