“It started with my stability control light coming on and staying on. Then I noticed when at a stop it felt like I was pressing the brakes at the same time I was stepping on the accelerator. Then when it was dark my neighbor noticed my brake lights were on. I researched these three problems that appeared within the same day, and found that the brake light switch is causing all three issues. Also, goings recalls for other models of Hyundai for this part but apparently not mine.”
NHTSA complaint #11353258, filed 2020-09, 133,000 miles“My car has been having a chugging feeling around 20-40mph for a while almost like engine is not getting enough fuel. I was stopped at intersection and went to accelerate and car died as if I ran out of gas or went into limp mode . It would not turn back on and after a few min. It did start only for the same thing to happen about a mile later. Took it to be looked at the following day they found some chewed wires fixed that. …”
NHTSA complaint #10640683, filed 2014-10, 24,181 miles“. When I bought it it had 98,000 km on it. Still under warranty and I had all the recalls from a few years ago done to bring it all up to date. I religiously changed the oil, rotated tires, fluids updated, new battery, etc. In 6 years I have put 8000km on the car since I bought it and while driving home from my daughters a few weeks ago it kept popping out of fourth gear? This happened the one time and no lights came on? Then last thursday I went to my daughters house to help out with the unpacking and on the drive home my car got stuck in 3rd gear! …”
NHTSA complaint #11406247, filed 2021-04, 67,108 miles“Hyundai/NHTSA has a recall for 2015-2016 Veloster 1.6 engines for connecting rod bearing failures, an issue that has been ongoing and known for years. The recall needs to be extended to 2011-2018 1.6l gdi motors used in Hyundai and kia vehicles, which all have issues with rod bearing failures. The rod bearing is going out on my Veloster that I recently purchased and Hyundai will not honor recall for the motor in the vehicle for the same issue going on on all model years. I do have a video of the running engine with the rod bearing noise but it exceeds the file limit size. …”
NHTSA complaint #11398587, filed 2021-03, 154,000 miles“Complete car fire. I was driving on the free way going between 70 and 75mph and I went to change lanes and when I looked back in the rearview mirror all I see is smoke so I pull off the freeway onto the shoulder and I see a flame from under the hood. So I pop the hood latch and I open it and there was a fire coming from the engine compartment. So I shut the hood and go and grab necessities out from the vehicle and wait for the fire department to show up and put out the car. Well when they showed up, they were not able to salvage any usable part of the vehicle. …”
