“Accelerating by itself, lunging in stop/go traffic.motor revs into passing gear all the way to 6500 RPM .but stays in the current speed, and sometimes will hold at certain RPM even if not on gas , very laggy in rev I feel I'm driving older car with messed up transmission”
NHTSA complaint #10903409, filed 2016-09, 2,800 miles“I was stopped at a stop sign and upon stepping on the gas, I noticed that the car would not accelerate. It was making a humming sound similar to if it were in neutral. I cannot seem to have any power when shifting into sport mode getting onto the highway and does not accelerate at all. It makes an odd noise. I felt car hiccup at first when accelerating. This could be a dct issue and could be safety issue also. Car is at approx 77,000 miles at this time. Similar acceleration issues reported with this vehicle by myself prior although not this severe and sport mode was working fine.”
NHTSA complaint #11327696, filed 2020-06, 77,000 miles“Car sometimes accelerates by itself even when off the gas and on the brakes. Lunges in stop and go traffic. Passing gear sometimes revs up to 6500rpm's but stays in the current speed. Sometimes car stays at a certain RPM even if not on the gas and wont slow down. Bad lag and terrible dead spots in acceleration. I feel like transmission is not communicating well with control module and gas pedal position sensor is way off the mark. Car has put me in life threatening situations but Hyundai service says they cant reproduce the problem but only drove it 7 miles. …”
NHTSA complaint #10911023, filed 2016-10, 5,200 miles“Veloster turbo dct model. When the car isn't fully warmed up, the car suddenly loses power upon medium to hard acceleration. Pressing the accelerator increases engine revs and transmission actually shifts, but no power is being put to the wheels. You have to fully lift off the accelerator and then depress again to get power back. For example, accelerating to merge into freeway traffic is dangerous as it loses power as you are merging and could easily be rear ended. Or turning left across traffic, if the vehicle loses power mid turn you could be hit by oncoming traffic. …”
NHTSA complaint #11097331, filed 2018-05, 14,000 miles“As I was driving on the highway I started losing power and a warning of transmission over heating appeared on screen. I let the car sit and cool down and when I started it up again the same issue persisted, I had the car towed home. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk since I was driving and highway speed and car just slowed down during rush hour traffic. The vehicle has not been expected at this time.”
