“I starting hearing a grinding noise coming from engine couple of weeks ago. Took it to the Infinity dealership for a diagnostic test. The mechanic stated “ timing chains were found to be stretched and metal was worn.” This is the same issue which prompted the recall of 2011-2013 QX56 models. However, I did not own my vehicle during the recall period.”
NHTSA complaint #11500607, filed 2023-01“My timing chain was stretched. This is the same problem the Infiniti qx56 had. My QX80 has the same motor and replacement timing chain part. The qx56 was issued a voluntary service campaign for this problem. My chain has not been included. Even though it has the same junk timing chain. Infiniti quoted me a repair price of $4800.”

The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.”

The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated.
