“Takata recall; while driving got a strong smell of gas inside the car. Pulled into service station and attended access fuel pump opening under rear seat. Fuel was shooting out of a small pin hole crack in the fuel flange top. Pooling up inside the fuel pump cavity and running down the outside of the fuel tank. Recall j059 on this fuel pump flange part number c2d25076 is on just 2010 xf models not on my 2011 XJ which uses the same part. Why is this not also on the recall list with other models that uses the same part?”

The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a fuel-burning odor coming from the vehicle. The contact had to roll down the windows while driving due to the odor. The contact stated that when the vehicle was refueled at the gas station, the odor of gasoline was very strong. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.”
