“Intermittently but frequently the ABS and other dashboard lights come on and the car drags and stops in the middle of the road. Its very dangerous. Sometimes I cannot get the car to go without sitting and waiting for long periods of time. It has happened since I have owned it but no one can diagnose it and I don't know when it will happen.”
NHTSA complaint #10633259, filed 2014-09, 150,000 miles“My car cut out at 65 MPH in heavy traffic. I lost my power brakes and steering. Additionally I lost my airbags. This is the 12th time this has occurred. I called Jeep and asked for a loaner or rental till this is resolved because there is no fix and they said they would not. I have nothing on my key ring that could have caused this problem and my knee is 8 inches from the ignition so I know I did not bump it with my knee. Jeep will not work with me and state it is safe to drive and I should be careful and try not to hit any bumps.”

The first incident occurred when my wife and 3 children were driving on the highway and the vehicle shut off at 65 MPH. The vehicle has consistently experienced the same challenge at low and high speeds. In addition, we have experienced similar issues as other owners such as; transmission noises and slippage, electrical system failures, excessive break noise, break wear, excessive cracking in windshield, seatbelt failure, window leaks, stereo replacement and more! …”
NHTSA complaint #10226989, filed 2008-05, 12,000 miles“Jeep commander had significant failures. Command module caused vehicle to lose all power and control while traveling in heavy high speed traffic. Sub frame mis manufactured causing vehicle to out of service for over 2 weeks. Brake rotors warped causing reduced braking.”
NHTSA complaint #10211873, filed 2007-12, 5,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Jeep COMMANDER 4X2. While driving approximately 20 MPH, the contact applied the brake pedal twice before a response occurred and the vehicle began to reduce speed. The failure occurred spontaneously. In addition, the engine would stall without warning. The vehicle was currently being diagnosed by an authorized dealer. There was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module,TCM, PCM). The contact was uncertain whether the VIN was included in the recall defect and planned to notify the dealer. …”
