“I own a 2006 Jeep commander, and have 3 doors in which the interior door handle bezel has broken. By researching price of repair, I have found that this is actually a very common issue. I was told by my dealership that it was my own fault for being too rough on my door handles, however I have never had this problem with any other vehicle I've owned. I have 3 daughters ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years, and I doubt they should be strong enough to break door handles. …”

“The cups inside the handles of both of the back doors of my 2006 Jeep commander are broken to pieces. Although this may sound like a cosmetic issue, yesterday, my 13 year old daughter threw up all over the inside of the truck because when we pulled over for her to throw up, she was completely unable to open the door!!! I cannot say how angry I am at this scenario. I am upset because I have to clean the car, but am furious because, had this been an evacuation situation, she could have died! …”

NHTSA complaint #10421466, filed 2011-08, 72,350 miles

“'06 Jeep COMMANDER 4X2 - (1) stalls intermittently during turns which are both from moving and stopped positions. Many have occurred during a u-turn from a stopped position - unable to duplicate, in shop again (2) has a rough idle, which at times is more severe than others, but has never died - has just shaken severely a few times. There is no set pattern. …”

NHTSA complaint #10218008, filed 2008-02, 50 miles

“The contact owns a 2006 Jeep commander. The contact stated that the driver and passenger door handles were cracked. The contact stated that the doors were able to be opened from the outside of the vehicle but the front passenger door could not be opened from the interior. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.”
