Example complaints

Suspension: “I bought this vehicle and put $423 into the front end replacing rotors, brakes, wheel bearings, hub assembly and control arm bushings only to take it to a garage to find out why it was still impossible to drive safely. I was told by two different garages that it isn't safe to drive because the struts and whole front end is damaged beyond repair that would cost more than the vehicle is worth. Also the car dealership has removed the airbags and now made it nonstickerable. You can't drive it without the vehicle feeling like the front end is gonna fall out and is unable to control the steering.”

NHTSA complaint #11123490, filed 2018-08, 171,738 miles

Electrical system: “While traveling at about 25 MPH with my 6 month old child in the vehicle, my car lost all power. The electronic throttle control indicator light came on (flashing) and so did the slide protection light. I was not able to accelerate beyond 20mph and when I came to a stop, the vehicle ran very rough like it was going to die. Luckily I puttered home and my child was safe. I had the vehicle towed to my local Jeep dealership and after almost 5 days of trying to diagnose the problem, they informed me that the PCM needed replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #10425805, filed 2011-09, 104,000 miles

Body and structure: “I heard noise in the front of the vehicle and was told that the front subframe cross member is completely rotted. By looking at the Jeep you would never know anything is wrong because it is well maintained. I was wondering if there are any recalls for this type of problem in upstate ny.”

NHTSA complaint #10889147, filed 2016-07, 95,000 miles

Air bags: “I have a 2207 Jeep compass. My 16 year old daughter was driving down the road at a speed of 40 miles per hour and the air curtains on both side of the vehicles deployed on their own. The car stalled immediately in the road. We took the Jeep for repair and it was kept at the dealership for 29 days. They have released the Jeep back to me, but the Jeep company does not have an explanation as to whey it happened. They also cannot tell me that it will not happen again. This is my sixteen year old daughters car. …”
