Example complaints

Body and structure: “As I was driving home from work in a thunderstorm at 2am on the highway at 65 miles per hour, the dome light began pouring water like a waterfall all over me, the radio, the shifter, and my iphone which was in the cup holder. The next day I called the local dealer to enact my 5 year 50,000 mile warranty and schedule service. I was informed that they do not have anyone available to work on my leak until 3 weeks from now. Additionally the service is not under warranty as window seals are only covered for 3 years 35,000 miles. …”

NHTSA complaint #10592139, filed 2014-05, 45,380 miles

Suspension: “Went to get my annual oil change on my 2008 Jeep patriot with only 42,000 miles on it. My mechanic called me at work and said my lower ball joint was about to fall out. Now the car is only 2 years old. I do alot of driving but no rough driving all highway driving. So I couldn't believe that ball joint would be bad after 42,000 miles. Now the bad part since it is out of warranty. I have to foot the bill for the replacement at over 450.00. Don't think this is right but what you going to do.”

NHTSA complaint #10351497, filed 2010-08, 42,000 miles

Transmission and drivetrain: “While driving on the highway for approximately an hour, going from 65-75 MPH, and occasionally using the cruise control, the transmission overheat light turned on. I slowed to about 60 MPH and exited at the next off ramp, which was slightly uphill. While in motion, the vehicle lost power. I used the remaining momentum to pull over to the shoulder and turned off the vehicle. I read the manual, which states to let the transmission cool down and then continue driving. …”

NHTSA complaint #10874069, filed 2016-06, 58,000 miles

Air bags: “I was involved in an accident where I rear-ended another vehicle. I was going about 35 and my vehicle was imbedded in the bumper of the other vehicle. The tow truck had to pull the vehicles apart and there is about $7,500 in damage to my vehicle. I hit my knee on the dash and had bruising from the seat belt. My air bags didn't deploy which has me greatly concerned. I had someone that was highed by chrysler to come out and inspect the vehicle. Chryler sent me a letter that due to the deceleration the air bags were not activated.”
