“I originally took my Jeep in to the dealer ship because every time I would fill up the gas would overflow. They said that they replaced he filler neck because there was a recall on that. Now it takes 30 minutes to fill up the tank from 1/4 tank because the gas pump will click off every 2 seconds.”

NHTSA complaint #10940356, filed 2017-01, 97,500 miles

“When filling the vehicle with gas, pump does not automatically shut off and gas spills out. I have to try and listen for the fuel to come up the fill pipe but it is difficult to gauge and hear. This is very dangerous as well as costly. This is the only vehicle I have had/heard of that has this issue. I know other Jeep jk owners who also experience this.”

NHTSA complaint #10493679, filed 2013-01, 91,000 miles

“When refueling the gas will spray out of the port when it is reaching full before the pump will kick off. I have gotten gas on my shoes and pants several times. It has even sprayed out so bad before that gas got on another person on the other side of the pump. It is almost impossible to fill up without spilling everywhere.”

NHTSA complaint #10380267, filed 2011-01, 39,500 miles

“Every time I fill my tank up the pump nozzle does not shut of automatically and I get what seems like a half a gallon of fuel on the ground or on the side of my Jeep. I've read many complaints about Jeep owners having the same problem and its due to a faulty esim switch or something wrong with the whole gas tank on jeeps.”

NHTSA complaint #10422788, filed 2011-08, 109,349 miles

“When we go to the gas station to fill our 2007 Jeep wrangler, we engage the auto fill on the gas pump and every time gas spills out all over the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. Checked path of hoses from tank to inlet and saw no visible problems that would cause this serious safety issue. I have not spoken with a dealer nor third party mechanic. Please advise.”
