“The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that she had become aware that the 2nd row middle seat belt clip did not fit in the designated buckle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that it was a factory defect. The dealer determined that the 2nd row middle seat belt buckle assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11579471, filed 2024-03, 60,000 miles“The contact rented a 2017 Kia Sedona. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the contact rear eneded the preceding vehicle. The frontal air bags did not deploy and the seat belt did not restrain the driver. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a private impound lot and was not drivable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,609. Updated 02/15/2017”
